Drake Deming and Joe Harrington have 6 nights on the IRTF to provide high resolution (!) ground-based support for the long-wavelength channel of CIRS, which has about 9 "pixels" equivalent resolution on the disk. We will be on the telescope Dec 13, 14, 19, 20, and Jan 3, 4. We will be using MIRLIN and observing at 7.85 microns (CVF, methane band), Q2, and Q3 filters (near 20 microns, 2 filters to separate the ortho- and para-hydrogen spin states). These times are co-incident with or near the CIRS mapping sequences. The center of our 12-hour observing periods will be at Jupiter transit, starting on the given dates Hawaii time. The main program goal is to study planetary waves.
