IRTF IMAGES

The IOPW-Jupiter webmaster was out to Hawaii for an observing run at IRTF using the NSFCAM. We at New Mexico State University wanted to absolutely calibrate Jupiter and several reference stars to wrap up Glenn Orton's long running Galileo Support Monitoring Program. The seeing was occationally as good as 0.6", and averaged 0.8-1.0". Below are our images of Jupiter. Please click on the dates below to view the images.

2003/Oct/05 15:38 UT, 2003/May/28 15:42 UT, 1.58 microns, continuum and 2.122 micron H2 absorption images of Jupiter.

2003/Oct/05 15:19 UT, 2003/May/28 15:23 UT, 1.58 microns, continuum and 2.122 micron H2 absorption images of Jupiter. GRS near eastern limb.

2003/May/28 04:35 UT, 2003/May/28 04:35 UT, 2003/May/28 05:13 UT, Good seeing, clear skies. GRS on CM. Please note incorrect times and CML - there was a clock glitch.

2003/May/06 06:50 UT, 2003/May/06 06:10 UT, Fair seeing through cirrus. GRS just west of CM.
2003/May/06 05:11 UT, Fair seeing through cirrus. GRS just east of CM.

2003/May/05 06:48 UT, Poor seeing through cirrus.
2003/May/05 05:05 UT, Poor seeing & focus, through cirrus.

2003/May/04 07:40 UT, Fair seeing & focus, through cirrus.
2003/May/04 06:02 UT, Good seeing through cirrus. GRS on west limb.

2003/May/06 1.5% bandpass filter scanning through CH4 absorption bands. GRS near west limb.
2003/May/05 1.5% bandpass filter scanning through CH4 absorption bands.
Mars 2003/May/04 1.5% bandpass filter scanning through CO2 absorption bands.
Movies are of sky subtracted images. No flatfielding, or other processing was applied. Seeing was highly variable.
