PDS Information
Find a Node - Use these links to navigate to any of the 8 publicly accessible PDS Nodes.

This bar indicates that you are within the PDS enterprise which includes 6 science discipline nodes and 2 support nodes which are overseen by the Project Management Office at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). Each node is led by an expert in the subject discipline, supported by an advisory group of other practitioners of that discipline, and subject to selection and approval under a regular NASA Research Announcement.

Point-by-point measured 440 nm and 880 nm Atmospheric Opacity values obtained from Mars Exploration Rover Pancam solar images during Mars Years 26-30 for Spirit and 26-31 (and ongoing) for Opportunity. The opacity values plotted above are Spirit - 440 nm from 2tau440_2209_20110214a and 880 nm from 2tau880_2209_20110214a and Opportunity - 440 nm from 1tau440_2790_20120504a and 880 nm from 1tau440_2790_20120504a located in the MER Pancam Opacity archive merao_1xxx at the PDS Geosciences node.

The Pancam design has a camera bar that contains Pancam and Navcam (navigation camera) heads. A "visor" changes the elevation of the cameras so the rover can look up or down, making it possible to carry out detailed observations of sky brightness.
