REMS Wind Speed and Direction Data
CERTIFIED
Fully processed data in this subset are NOT currently available. The wind subset of the REMS data should contain horizontal and vertical windspeeds, wind direction defined clockwise with respect to North and a string element describing the wind measurement confidence level. Due to sensor damage during landing, only partial segments of the raw data have been recorded by the REMS instrument. Some raw wind data can be accessed in the TEL and ENV files, but not the fully processed MOD files.
Columns in Reduced MOD RDR files:
(Horizontal Wind Speed - not available, Vertical Wind Speed- not available, Wind Direction- not available, Wind Speed Confidence Level)
The above plot displays three hours of raw wind data obtained by the REMS Boom #2 wind sensor on the 86th sol of the MSL mission. Since calibrated wind data are not currently available, the differential thermal capacitance across 3 boards of the Boom 2 wind sensor are shown. Each board includes a longitudinal and transversal wind sensor component. The data in this plot are available in the RME_405081069RNV00860000000_______P9.TAB file.
